Peppermint is amazing for upset tummies, it is a pain reliever, an anesthetic, an antiseptic, an astringent, a decongestant, an expectorant, it cools the mind from states of anger and is excellent for mental fatigue and nervousness.
Seems to me you can't go wrong with having a little bit of peppermint essential oil in your cupboard.
How to use peppermint ...
~Upset belly? Make a tea out of the leaves. This soothing tea is both warming and cooling so no matter if you're stomach ache is hot or cold peppermint tea will help to soothe the internal dialog that your body is having.
~Boil water and pour over a loosely packed tea bag/ball.
~Allow to steep for 5 minutes
~Sit back and enjoy!
~Have a bump or bruise? Rub a little peppermint on. If you do not have a pre made blend then try this ... put a small amount of hazelnut, coconut or any carrier oil of your choice on the sore spot. Then put 1 drop on the sore spot. Blend gently on your skin. BEST way to do this is to make up a small amount you can keep on hand.
~ 1oz carrier oil - hazelnut, coconut etc
~ 5-8 drops of peppermint oil
Store in a cobalt or amber glass bottle
Use a dropper for easy usage.
When needed put a small amount on the bruise.
~Need a decongestant for your congested sinuses? The blend that you made for a bump or bruise. Open that bottle. Inhale deeply. You might even want to put a super small dab of it on your upper lip - this could be strong for you so do be careful.
~Want an astringent to clean your cuts? And even as a facial cleanser?
~ 2 oz of witch hazel
~ 5 drops of peppermint essential oil
~Store in a cobalt or amber glass bottle
~Use a spray closure then when you need to clean a cut you are ready. This too is very strong so be careful and if needed use less of the peppermint.
~Use the same bottle and recipe for a facial cleanser. Use morning and night for clean, refreshed skin.
Tired and stressed?
Open a bottle of peppermint essential oil and inhale deeply. Do this every couple of hours. Apply one of the blends you have made on your temples.
Want something already made up for you? This is a roll on with peppermint and hazelnut oils perfectly blended for application directly on your skin. Give this a try
This is another blend designed to help calm and soothe, the only difference is it has lavender essential oil added.
